Cacao (chocolate) comes from the Theobroma Cacao bean, which translated means ‘food of the Gods’. Beneficial properties of cacao include its antioxidant effects, its effect on the neuro-transmitters and the alleviation of depression, its ability to increase focus and alertness, and its high content of iron, magnesium, chromium and sulfur.
1.) Antioxidant - The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scale measures the effectiveness of antioxidants to absorb free radicals that cause cell and tissue damage. The higher the score, the higher the level of antioxidants present.
